The recent update of the EU Register of Feed Additives: what’s new?

What does it mean marked with red borders? How can such sale be restricted on world-wide selling platforms?

On 13/10/2020 the EU Register of Feed Additives updated the list of feed additives (Annex I of the Regulation No. 1831/2003). The Animal Nutritionals has checked it for you. Some important ingredients for animal digestive products now marked with red borders, like for example Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, a popular gut flora stabiliser. In the pet supplement industry, this additive was often used to growth-promoting rhizobacteria having the ability to colonize roots quickly.

What does it mean marked with red borders? In practice, such legal prescription means that this ingredient may not be added anymore in the pets supplement products that are available for sale on the territory of the European Union.

How can such sale be restricted on a world-wide selling platform like Amazon? It is possible! To be compliant with the European Regulation, the on-line seller will not allow to the consumers with a delivery address within the EU to order a pet supplement containing restricted ingredient.
